Medal of Honor: Allied Assault brings us into a new world of the WWII-themed shooting series with superb action and a realistic setting that also happens to teach you about the war in the meantime. This game has a serious combat simulation that falls somewhere along the lines of Operation Flashpoint or Ghost Recon. You will either feel surprised or disappointed. First and foremost, Medal of Honor is a run-and-gun shooting game. You have a lot of clever scripting, and everything has been orchestrated for total mayhem and the maximum level of intensity.

What Could You Compare This Game To?

You could compare this game to part-game and part amusement park ride. Medal of Honor Allied Assault maintains the strong level of intensity throughout, and you continue to blow your way through enemies in the game. We don't necessarily have a game heavy on the story line, but we do have a title that gets split into six sections with disconnected missions spread across more than 30 different levels within the game. Instead of focusing on developing memorable characters and complex plot twists, the 2015 version arguably took a more effective route with surprising new game elements. You have more than 30 different levels to play through, which means you won't be running out of challenging levels any time soon. In fact, this is an older game so the level of challenge is even worse than what you might have had with a previous title.

What Else Will You Like About the Game?

Every cut scene in the game fits almost seamlessly and integrates well with the rest of the game. You have ongoing events within the levels. What's nice about this game is how you always have control in the game. Like in Half-Life, the techniques create this sense of urgency and helps you to develop an emotional bond with the environment of the game. Still, it remains a mystery why the developers didn't choose to use the uninterrupted viewpoint more often because of how well it would've fit with the game.

Medal of Honor: How Long to Beat?

Single-player shooters have taken between 10 to 15 hours to complete within the last couple years, and Allied Assault remains right on track. The average gamer will have to play for around 10 hours before she can complete the game on the standard difficulty setting. However, the game packs a great deal of content into every level. There are some hard spots in this game where you can get stuck. With this game, you won't ever feel like you have to force yourself through the levels to complete them.
